Dumb and Dumber To

I rented it On Demand and Jeff Daniels and Jim Carry still look just as young as they did 20 years ago. They used the same actor who plays the birdie boy and he was all grown and they had some deja vu in the film from the first one and I thought it was funny. But overall I didn't think it was that great. They also had an Asperger's reference but I am not sure I get it. Some doctor thought Harry had it for some reason so he asked Lloyd about it.

Freddy VS Jason

I'd really recommend it, even if you haven't seen the NOES or FTT series before, in fact, I'd recommend it over them. It manages to weave the two movies together brilliantly and even manages to provide interesting human characters to set the scene.

I was a little bit concerned, when it introduced and established several human characters as I was afraid that it was going down the same road as Alien VS Predator 2: Requiem, also known as 'Dawson's Creek, guest starring Alien and Predator.' The movie knows that you couldn't give a rat's ass about the human characters and doesn't seem to coddle them in any way, especially not once they've outlived their usefulness.

I was also pleased to see that they didn't go down the route of making Jason the 'good guy,' like they did in the original Alien VS Predator movie, with Predator. I was a little concerned that the film was going that route for a bit but thankfully my fears were put to rest.

As for the fights and versus elements, it's incredibly well balanced. Freddy is strongest in the dream world, during those scenes there's a sort of red filter over the screen as he was forged in fire and Jason is strongest in the real world, during those scenes the filter is blue, due to the fact that he drowned in a lake as a child. It's a lot of fun, seeing the two of them in each other's playgrounds and seeing how they are able to turn the tables on each other, making the two of them worthy rivals.

Like the series that it represents, it's stupid, gory, over the top and it carries an element of cheapness from the Friday the Thirteenth series and an element of silliness from Nightmare on Elmstreet, though it's not intrusive and feels more like a homage than a formula or anything that devalues the film.

So, yeah, if you have to see a VS movie or a Jason or Freddie Movie, I'd suggest this one. Not only is it my favourite movie of either franchise but it's also the greatest versus movie ever made.

"And then he is gone and Lazarus is left alone to wonder which is worse - a God that does not care to understand His creation or a God that thinks that he does." Lazarus by John Connolly.

Little Women

1994 version.

Cogent and moving adaptation of the 19-th century classic. Good connection between the family members, plus some strong individual performances from Wynona Rider and a young Kirsten Dunst

History is the lies of the victors coupled with the delusions of the defeated. It is an imagined certainty created at the point where the imperfection of memory meets the inadequacy of documentation.

Agree with Taken 3 rating but give Equalizer 9.5! Big Grin

God Bless America

Hard-hitting satire about violence and the collapse of intellectual culture in modern-day USA.

Having lost his job and been diagnosed with a terminal brain tumour, a man goes on a killing spree, targeting those he deems to be responsible for the de-intellectualisation of American culture.

Fantastic movie that will appeal to those for whom the term "I weep for humanity" is an everyday utterance.
